Burnaby Heights - 9 Reasons Why its the best Neighborhood in Burnaby
I have been living in Burnaby for most of my life. I have lived in the south slope area, Metrotown area, and capitol hill area. Now I live in the Burnaby Heights neighborhood and I couldn’t be happier.
1. Burnaby Heights Shopping is one of the best
In Burnaby Heights you have a lot of options for shopping. For groceries, you can go to Safeway, Cioffi’s Meat Market & Deli, and Sungiven Foods
2. The Wide Variety of Restaurants
The amazing food located right on Hastings street. You can find a wide variety food to eat from all different parts of the world. If you have an interest in Pasta, you can always go and stop by Anton’s Pasta Bar. You will be surprised with the extra large portion sizes and the long line ups outside the restaurant. If you have a sweet tooth, one of my favorite desert shops is Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery, you can get ice cream, specialty sundaes, and ice cream floats. The go to bakeries in the area would be Chez Christoph, Fortuna Bakery, and Peaked Pies.
3. Eileen daily leisure pool and fitness - Great Community Centre
Living in Burnaby Heights, you are also close to Eileen daily leisure pool and fitness. The indoor pool has a water slide, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. The pool is really warm and the staff there are really nice and helpful. Great place for family fun.
Living in the heights you are just steps from Confederation Park. Here at the park you have access to baseball diamond, water park, playing fields, a full size track, dog enclosure areas, picnic areas, skateboarding area, playground for kids, lawn bowling and even a tennis court. Also if you are into hiking you can visit Montrose park. It is a very nice scenic park with great views of 2nd narrows bridge, the north shore, and mountain views.
5.Safety - Burnaby Heights is a safe place to live
6. Centrally Located
It is just a 22-minute drive along Hastings street to downtown Vancouver. If you need quick access to the sky train, this is only a 14-minute bus ride. The Burnaby Heights area is actually a very walkable area. You can easily leave your car home and easily enjoy all the local amenities.
7.High Ranking Elementary Schools
The Fraser Institute conducts yearly reports of all the schools across British Columbia. The schools are rated in the following categories reading, writing and numeracy. They use Grade 4 and Grade 7 scores to come up with a school ranking. In Burnaby Heights, the elementary schools I would enroll your children in would be Gilmore and St Helens. Fraser institute has ranked Gilmore a 6.8/10 and ranked St Helens a 9.8/10. The High School to register in the area would be Alpha Secondary. Alpha Secondary has a school ranking of 5.2/10 from the Fraser Institute. I would say Alpha Secondary has average ratings. The average school exam percentages are around 68%.
This is one of my family’s favorite places to go. This place is run fully with volunteers. Your entire family can ride miniature trains across the park. Burnaby Central Railway can also host children’s birthday parties.
9.The Variety of Housing Types
In Burnaby Heights there are many different housing options. We have condos located right on Hastings street. The brand new condos in the area which are currently under construction is Storia and Siena. The area also boasts the some of the nicest detached houses. Bonus is most of the homes in the area have a gorgeous view of the north shore mountains and the Vancouver harbor. During Halloween and Christmas you can see many of the homes in this area decorated.
